SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory, is a collaboration between Chalmers and RISE for research and development of electromobility. SEEL has three test facilities: Gothenburg, Nykvarn and Borås. The aim of SEEL is to improve efficient knowledge development and cooperation to accelerate the evolution of electrified transports.
On 27 April 2009 the Swedish Ministry of Education and Research, Swedish Research Council, Lund University, Region Skåne and Vinnova, a Swedish government funding agency, decided to fund the research center. The new laboratories, including two storage rings and a full-energy linac is situated in the northeastern quarter Brunnshög in Lund.
Sweden’s Smart Energy ecosystem brings together leading suppliers of smart grids, district heating and cooling, and innovative solutions for energy storage. These key players are on a mission to speed up the transition to clean electricity and carbon neutrality – in Sweden and globally.
Five key strengths of Sweden’s Smart Energy ecosystem: Renewable energy is expected to account for 80 per cent of global growth in electricity demand by 2030. Sweden is at the forefront of progress and offers a wealth of opportunities for foreign investors.
The Uppsala battery storage project is a 5 MW delivery capacity system that supports Uppsala’s electricity grid capacity as a service for Vattenfall Eldistribution. It also assists Svenska Kraftnät (the Swedish power grid authority) in balancing the frequency in Sweden, with a storage capacity of about 20 MWh, which is equivalent to 4 MW in 5 hours.
The new battery and technology are at the forefront. It can support both Uppsala's electricity grid capacity as a service for Vattenfall Eldistribution, and help Svenska Kraftnät (the Swedish power grid authority) in its role to balance the frequency in Sweden.
