An MCB is an automatically operated electrical switch. Miniature circuit breakers are intended to prevent damage to an electrical circuit as a result of excess current. They are designed to trip during an overload or short circuit to protect against electrical faults and equipment failure.
A Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) is a device that ensures electrical safety in homes, offices, and other buildings by protecting electrical installations against overloads and short-circuits.
Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) are equipped with two tripping mechanisms: the delayed thermal tripping mechanism for overload protection and the magnetic tripping mechanism for short circuit protection.
An MCB works by using a bimetal for overload protection and an electromagnet for short-circuit protection. The trip unit, which includes these components, ensures proper operation of the Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB).
If the Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) is tripped due to over-current, the external switching latch can be in the “TRIPPED” position. The other two positions of an MCB are “ON” (closed condition) and “OFF” (manually switched off).
The MCB automatically switches off the electrical circuit during the abnormal conditions of the network (both overload and fault conditions). It has many advantages compared to a fuse.
