The Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP) is a complex integrated development of multiple oil and gas reservoirs located in the Central North Sea, around 240km east of Aberdeen, the UK. ETAP enhances digital performance throughout the entire lifecycle of power systems, at the same time improving productivity, collaboration capabilities, overall efficiency, as well as facilitating the transformation of enterprises in green energy usage and sustainable development.
According to a 2018 report, the BP-operated ETAP fields produced more than 550 million barrels of oil equivalent (gross) after two decades of operations. ETAP development includes a Central Processing Facility (CPF) at Marnock field.
The ETAP complex was sanctioned for development in 1995 with first hydrocarbons produced in 1998. The original development included Marnock, Mungo, Monan and Machar from BP and Heron, Egret, Skua from Shell. In 2002, BP brought Mirren and Madoes on stream.
Day-to-day production operations of the remaining seven ETAP fields are controlled by BP from the CPF. In its two decades of operations, more than 550 million barrels of oil equivalent (gross) has been produced from the BP-operated ETAP fields.
Liquids from the ETAP fields are exported to the Kinneil Terminal, Grangemouth, through the Forties Pipeline System (FPS) and gas is exported by the Central Area Transmission System (CATS) to Teesside. To date more than 550 million barrels of oil equivalent (gross) has been produced from the BP-operated ETAP fields.
