On Nov. 4, a 25-year-old man who worked as a technician and did maintenance work on a production line was injured in an explosion. He died late last week due to severe burns.

It was 13 degrees below zero in Skellefteå in Sweden’s far north. Arvid Öhgren, a contractor at Northvolt’s battery factory, tried to pull himself off the freezing ground. He looked down and with his right hand tried to pick up his left arm. The limb was hanging by a thread of skin.
On Friday, an employee of Northvolt who had been injured when an explosive fire broke out at the site in November also died, the company said. Local media reported that the two men were 60 and 25 years old, respectively. Both accidents happened at Northvolt Ett, the company’s first gigafactory site in Skellefteå, in the northern part of Sweden.
