Sunshine Energy Australia is developing the combined solar PV and battery storage project with an estimated investment of A$2.5bn ($1.77bn). The project received development approval in November 2018, while the ground-breaking ceremony was held in February 2019.
Not much is know about the project developer, as this appears to be its first and only project, judging by its website. According to a company extract from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, Sunshine Energy Australia was registered in 2017 in Mitchell, ACT, with business headquarters in Melbourne.
The battery storage station will use Sunshine Energy’s own patented lithium-based battery technology called SEA-Power (SEAP). Each SEAP unit will comprise a 4MW battery storage and battery management system (BMS), fire suppression equipment, thermal management system, switchgear, and uninterruptible power source (UPS).
Sunshine Hydro is developing a portfolio of projects that will generate 24/7 Carbon-free Energy and Green Fuels. Over the years, we have identified and assessed more than 70 project opportunities out of a pool of hundreds of prospective sites for a pumped hydro station.
Sunshine Hydro’s NSW flagship project is in early stages of detailed planning. The land for the pumped hydro station is secured and the project is planned to integrate and expand the green methanol production of the Black Creek Green Fuels project, improving the methanol yield produced from the biomass by feeding in hydrogen.
