Developer and optimiser Ingrid Capacity and energy storage owner-operator BW ESS have been working in partnership to deliver 14 large-scale BESS projects throughout Sweden’s grid, situated in electricity price areas SE3 and SE4.
Construction has begun on Sweden’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) undertaken by Neoen, an Independent Power Producer and Nidec, a system integrator. The project has been projected to come online in early 2025. Neoen is headquartered in Paris.

Centrica has entered into an agreement to acquire up to nine ‘ready to build’ battery energy storage projects (BESS) in Sweden with a total capacity of over 100MW from Fu-Gen AG, the Swiss based renewables developer and independent power producer.
The fund will provide the financing needed to build Sweden’s second-largest battery storage system. Within 12 months, 13 local battery storage systems with a total capacity of nearly 200 megawatts will be connected to the local grids, adding necessary flexibility to the system by participating on the grid frequency control market.
