Global organisation
The EPC Alliance by Sweden is a network between Team Sweden, Global EPCs, Swedish suppliers and International banks that all work to promote trade and investment between Sweden and the world. Sweden is a country with many innovative and world-leading companies that can participate in large infrastructure projects abroad.
However, Sweden lacks large turn-key system integrators that work in developing markets. This is one reason why Sweden has mentioned and highlighted the importance of international EPCs in the government’s official Export and Investment Strategy.
To promote the use of EPC a Guide to Energy Performance Contracting is developed. The guide introduces an improved implementation model based on the present market situation and experiences in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The Swedish National Board of Housing, being the supervisory authority, issues regulations regarding the energy performance certification and provides experts in charge of certification. The new system was introduced on 1 January 2014, and states that all buildings classified after that date must get a classification, which ranges from A to G.
Located in Ragunda, Jämtland County, Sweden, the plant will have a capacity of 40 MW / 40 MWh. It will be connected to the 130-kV E.ON grid. The power plant is expected to come online within the next few weeks and will also provide Svenska Kraftnät, the Swedish transmission system operator, with ancillary services.
These requirements can be found in the building code, BBR (BFS 2011:6) and depend on the type of building, if it is electrically heated or not, and where in Sweden it is situated. Energy Class C corresponds to the particular requirement that would apply to the building if it were built today.
