This is why we are now building Sweden’s largest Battery Energy Storge Solution (BESS) of 10 MW, which will be located in Grums, in western Sweden. The main function of the system is to better balance the national grid networks.
12.02.2024 - The commissioning of Axpo’s first large-scale battery storage facility in Sweden, announced today, marks the latest milestone in the expansion of its battery business. The 20MW/20MWh plant, connected to the electricity grid by local energy company Landskrona Energi, follows several projects in Switzerland and Europe.
The first investment is Sweden's largest Battery Energy Storge Solution (BESS) that enables more renewable energy in the electricity system and a better electricity network balance. Electricity is a prerequisite for societal development and achieving climate policy goals.

The large-scale storage containers have been deployed for project developer Polar Structure AB, in Haninge, near Stockholm last month.
October 10, 2023 All eight batteries are now in place at Stockholm Exergi and Polar Capacity’s battery park in Haninge. The park is one of Sweden’s largest, and when operational, it will add a total of 20 MW to the electrical system—a much-welcomed addition for a continued secure and reliable power supply in the Stockholm region.
